Weiland spoke highly of the organization, and Arnold in particular. Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland talked to LAUNCH about his support of the Musician's Assistance Program (MAP), prior to his performance Thursday (November 7) for the third annual MAP Awards dinner fundraiser, at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles.įounded in 1992 by musician and ex-addict Buddy Arnold and partner Carole Fields, MAP helps musicians seeking recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.

The STP frontman released his first solo album, 12 Bar Blues, in 1998. But, uh, when I make music for myself, uh, it tends to come from my influences, which are a little bit more obscure." You know, maybe we're the best around right now at what we do. My music, compared to STP, is a lot more avant-garde, you know, it's much more experimental and weird, definitely textured and STP is a rock 'n' roll band format, you know, bass, drums, guitar, and a lead singer and we're great at what we do. Weiland tells us the difference between his solo offerings and that of his group: "Similar. Weiland is co-producing the effort with Josh Abraham, known for his work with Staind, Limp Bizkit, and Crazy Town. Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland is halfway through completing his second solo album, though no release date has been set. I scanned the artwork and added their pages to the site. The second item is the 12" white vinyl promo of the 'Working Class Hero - A Tribute to John Lennon' album featuring the Magnificent Bastards.

For ones who are familiar with the different officially released acoustic versions of Plush, it's the 'Unplushed' version. The first of those two items is the Korean cd version of Core, which misses the song 'Crackerman', but has an acoustic version of Plush as bonus track. Recently I got my hands on two items that were not featured in the Discography yet.

"If Only I Could Fly" has an angelic, celestial vibe, with airy guitars reminiscent of U2's Edge, he says, while "Big Black Monster" is another trip into psychedelic rock. The influence is greatest on "Drop That Baby," which Abraham describes as a trace of psychedelia melded with a heavy, melodic hook. Like the singer's first solo album, which mixed ambient jazz, bossa nova and tape-loop electronic rock, his second effort is heavily reminiscent of Scary Monsters-era David Bowie. Abraham describes the four completed tracks, recorded in late August at his Los Angeles studio, as more "artsy" than Weiland's efforts with Stone Temple Pilots, but not as far out as the singer's experimental first set. Scott Weiland has begun work on the follow-up to 12 Bar Blues, his 1998 solo debut, with producer Josh Abraham (Crazytown, Deadsy). Thanks to LuckySchmuck, from Rolling Stone: Maybe it won't be released on Atlantic like 12 Bar Blues was? The PRP has proven to be a reliable news source most of the times in the past, and it's strange how it doesn't list a label for the release, where many others do have label info. On their upcoming releases list, The PRP list Scott's upcoming solo album as 'upcoming, but without release date yet' (scroll all the way down on that page).
